Welcome to the Friends of the Westwood Library
The Friends of the Westwood Library is a 501c3 non-profit organization formed to actively support the library through advocating, fundraising and volunteering. To volunteer with the Library, please visit the Library and ask for and complete a Friends of the Library interest form. Or, come to one of the meetings, dates listed below.
Volunteer with the Friends of the Library
Book Sale Helpers: the FOL run a monthly book sale on the Second Saturday of each month September through June. Helpers are needed to set up, run and take down each monthly sale. Contact [email protected].
Book Sorters: The FOL need volunteers to help go through the 1,000s of donations received each month and to organize a collection of materials to sell. Contact [email protected].
Fundraising: In addition to the book sale, the Friends organize a variety of fundraisers, always looking for helpers.
Expertise in bookkeeping, financial, publicity, legal, technology, art...are all needed by the Friends of the Library. If you are looking to volunteer, there is a place for you here.

Book Donations
Dear Library customers,
The Friends of the Library receive donations on Mondays from 10am-9pm.
Donations must be brought to the Library during regular hours -- 10am through 9pm. We can only accept two bags or boxes of books per donation. Please do not leave book donations outside the door or placed in the book drop.

Due to space constraints, the Friends may need to suspend donations from time to time.

- Hardcover and paperback books for children, teens and adults
- Contemporary and classic fiction
- Popular nonfiction such as cookbooks, biographies, history, religion
- DVDs and music CDs
Donations That Cannot Be Accepted Include:
- Books in poor condition (stained, yellowed, moldy, torn)
- Encyclopedias
- Textbooks and Dictionaries
- Readers Digest condensed books
- Outdated reference books
- Books discarded by other libraries
- Audio books on CD
- Audio cassettes and VHS tapes

Museum Passes
The museum passes are available to Westwood Library card holders. Some museums require proof of Library card so be sure to bring with you when visiting the museum. Museum passes are first come first served. The can be held for one week with a deposit of $40.00 cash to be returned when museum pass is returned. Cards must be returned inside the Library, not book drop. Late fee of $1.00 per day.
Intrepid Sea Air & Space Museum NYC dedicated to the exhibition and interpretation of history, science and service as related to its home aboard the aircraft Intrepid, a National Historic Landmark. Free admission for 2 adults and 2 children. Must bring library card with you!!
American Museum of Natural History. Up to two tickets per residence are available to Westwood patrons for free access to this outstanding museum!

For libraries offering museum passes for patrons there are free apps that can make the trip more worthwhile for both planning a trip and for use at the museum.
American Museum of Natural History Explorer App, available for iPhone and Android, includes a Museum map, detailed directions to exhibits and amenities and customized recommendations for what to see. Four tours are built into the app-- the Dino tour, the Earth and Space tour; a Highlights tour and the Night at the Museum tour that shows exhibits featured in the popular film.
