Step One--Join us at the kick off to register for our summer reading program (or register anytime before August 11) for the grade appropriate summer reading program below. Your child must have a valid Westwood library card to participate. Parents please register each child based on the grade they will enter in September. If you need a library card--email library@westwood.bccls.org
Step Two--After registering, keep logging your books online, attending a program or completing "On Your Own Time" activities. Each week we will track your program participation, completed activities and books read. Make sure to submit your completed activities and logging of books by Friday at 6:00 pm and you'll be notified if you qualify for that week's prize! Summer Reading Registration

On Your Own Time Activities K-5
In addition to reading and logging in your books, do as many of these on your own activities, too. For each one below, please take a picture and write a description. Send these in an email to denise.lester@westwood.bccls.org. Your entries will entitle you to a raffle ticket towards a prize. What's the prize, you ask?
On Your Own One
Family Game Night Pick a game to play with your family. Take a picture and write a short description of how the game went. Who played? Was it fun? Who won? |
On Your Own Two
Read Together Hour Gather friends or family members and sit down to read for an hour. Take a picture and write a description of the event. What time/day did you choose? Who participated? What was everyone reading? Did you have discussion? |
On Your Own Three
Westwood Fun Take a picture and write a description of a time you had with a group of friends or family doing something in Westwood. Did you go to a concert in the park? One of the playgrounds? Shopping. Who went and what did you do? Did you learn anything new about Weswtood? |
On Your Own Four
The Arts! Take a picture and write a description of a time you had with a group of friends or family members where you were creating something--drawing together, chalking up the driveway, knitting or crocheting? playing music together? Tell us all about it. |
On Your Own Five
All About Sports Take a picture and write a description of a time you had playing sports with a group of friends or family members. Maybe you went swimming? Played badminton or tennis? Soccer or bocce ball? Tell us all about it. Who won, who was on your team. |
On Your Own Six
At the Library Take a picture and describe a time with a group of friends or family when you were all at the Library. Maybe you came for a program? Maybe you came to take out books or the metal detector? Did anyone help you when you visited? Did you check out any books? |
