Early Development Parent Workshops with Lenore Stamm, MA, CCC-SLP
Fridays 9/21, 10/12, and 11/16 at 11:00 AM, directly after Wee Ones Laptime (11:00 AM), in the picture book area.
Lenore will converse with parents and caretakers on a number of topics pertaining to early childhood development. Each session will have a focus--listed below--but questions on a variety of topics are welcome.

For children 0-2 and their caretakers. No registration.

Leaf Prints with Sharon Gross
Saturday 10/20 from 1:00-2:30 PM.
Artist Sharon Gross will teach participants to make art prints using materials found in nature, such as fallen leaves.
2nd-4th grades. Limit 15 participants. Please register.

Boo!: Halloween Stories and Crafts for Ragamuffins
Saturday 10/27 from 11:30 AM-1:30PM.
Are you going to the Westwood Ragamuffin Parade? Stop by the library afterwards for stories, songs, rhymes, and crafts. We'll have Storytime with songs and rhymes at 12:00 PM and at 1:00 PM. We'll also have ongoing Halloween crafts.

Think Outside the Box
Coding Club: Twice a month on Thursdays from 3:30 - 4:30 PM. 9/13, 9/27, 10/11, 10/25, 11/8, 11/29, 12/6, 12/20.
We will learn to code using Scratch with CS First.
Grades 3 - 5. The fall session is full. Ask about our next session at the library, or give us a call.
Lego Club: Once a month on Thursdays from 3:30 - 4:30 PM. Fall sessions: 9/20, 10/4, 11/1, 12/13.
Build a Lego creation on a theme. Grades K and up.
Makerspace: Fridays from 3:30 - 4:30 PM.
Craft! Build! Discover! Create! We have a new project each week. Strictly 3rd grade and up.
Reading Buddies: The Library has teen volunteers who can meet one-on-one with your child for reading help. If you would like a reading buddy for your child, please email the WPL Director at email@example.com.
Reading with Sofi: TBA
The Parent/Child Book Group is open to children in 4th-6th grade-ish (and anyone else who likes the book) and a parent. We meet on a Tuesday each month from 7:30 - 8:30 PM. You can pick up a copy of each month's book at the Westwood Public Library. Just ask Miss Katherine, or anyone at circulation.

1000 BOOKS BEFORE KINDERGARTEN: The Westwood Library is a participating library in BCCLS' 1000 Books Before Kindergarten program. Does it sound hard? If you read just one book a night, you will have read 365 books a year, 730 books in 2 years, and 1,095 books in 3 years. Plenty of time! You can even read a book more than once! Reach 1000 book and receive an invite to an annual BCCLS-wide party. Get reading logs at the Library to keep track of your progress. During the school year, starting Monday, September 17, 2018, students in 6th -8th grade will be directed to our teen area open Monday through Thursday from 3:00pm to 5:00pm. Homework help, board games and other activities all available. Please call the library for more info: 201-664-0583.
