Databases for Early Literacy
Westwood Library is now hosting a teen center after school on Mon, Tue, and Wed from 3:00-5pm for 6th grade & up. Homework area, homework help, board games and other activities all available. Please call the library for more info: 201-664-0583.
Music with Miss Fran
Thursdays 1/4, 1/11, 1/18, and 1/25 from 10:30 - 11:30 AM.
Does your child love to dance, sing, and jump around? Miss Fran will be offering four sessions of songs and play in January at Westwood Public Library. If you sign up, please try to attend all four sessions.
Ages 1-5. Limit 25 participants. Registration for this program is now closed.
Graham Cracker Comics
Thursday 1/25, 4-5 PM.
What's better than comics or cookie decorating? Comics AND cookie decorating! We will be icing two panel comics onto graham crackers. Join us to learn about icing, piping, and the five different types of comic "gutter" transitions. Then, eat your creations, or take them home. Yum.
3rd grade and up. Limit 20 participants. Please register.
Storytime with Grampa Tom and Friends
Thursdays 2/1, 2/8, 2/15, and 2/22 from 10:30 - 11:30 AM.
Open to little ones and their caregivers, this storytime series will be led by Miss Kat in partnership with elder readers.
Teddy Bear Sleepover
Wednesday 2/7 from 4:00-4:50 PM.
Bring your favorite stuffed animal for stories, games, and snacks. Then leave your fuzzy friend for an overnight at the library. Pick up on Friday, 2/9. This program is sponsored and run by the Junior Friends of the Westwood Public Library.
All ages. Please register.
The Magic of Sharks
Thursday 2/8 from 4:00 - 5:00 PM.
Join us for Steve Woyce's educational magic show. See stunning feats of magic and learn all about our favorite toothy fish. This program is generously sponsored by Anna Ellerin, DDS.

When You Come to the Library
Write a letter to a book character, and put it in our Children's Room Mailbox! Put your email or phone number on your letter so that we can let you know when the character has replied.
Wee Ones Laptime: Fridays from 10:30 - 11:00 AM.
Stories, songs, and rhymes for caregivers and children from birth to about 2 years old.
Toddler Storytime: Wednesdays from 10:30 - 11:30 AM.
Stories, songs, and a craft for caregivers and children about 2 years old.
Preschool Storytime: Wednesdays from 1:30 - 2:30 PM.
Stories, songs, and a craft for caregivers and children about 3 - 5 years old.
Please note that in January there will be no Thursday morning sessions of Preschool Storytime. In that time slot we will be having Music with Miss Fran--description above. Registration for Music with Miss Fran is now closed.

Think Outside the Box
Coding Club: Twice a month on Thursdays from 3:30 - 4:30 PM. 9/14, 9/28, 10/12, 10/26, 11/9, 12/7, 12/21, 1/4, 1/18.
We will learn to code using Scratch with CS First. Grades 3 - 5.
Coding club is now full. Limit 8 participants. Plan to attend all 8 sessions.
Lego Club: Once a month on Thursdays from 3:30 - 4:30 PM. Our January session is 1/11.
Build a Lego creation on a theme. Grades K and up.
Makerspace: Fridays from 3:30 - 4:30 PM.
Craft! Build! Discover! Create! We have a new project each week. Strictly 3rd grade and up.
Reading Buddies: January sessions - Wednesdays 1/10, 1/17, 1/24, and 1/31 from 4:00-5:00 PM.
One of the best ways to encourage reading is by spending time reading. Young children respond particularly well to teens and love to spend time reading with them. Bring your child to the library on Wednesday afternoons in January for some one-on-one reading time with our Junior Volunteers. Please register.
Reading with Sofi: TBA
The Parent/Child Book Group is open to children in 4th-6th grade-ish (and anyone else who likes the book) and a parent. We meet on the 3rd Tuesday of each month from 7:30 - 8:30 PM. You can pick up a copy of each month's book at the Westwood Public Library. Just ask Miss Katherine, or anyone at circulation.
